What & Who We're Known For:

  • Schuyler County is the birthplace of American road racing and today is the home to Watkins Glen International, the host of the only NASCAR race in New York State.
  • Schuyler County is home to the True Love, a 67’ schooner featured in the 1956 film High Society and sailing tours are available from the Seneca Harbor Park Pier in Watkins Glen. 
  • The Seneca Lake Scenic Byway stretches along the east side of Seneca Lake and is noted as one of the most beautiful drives in the region.
  • The county is named in honor of General Philip Schuyler, one of the four major generals in the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War.
  • While you may be familiar with 19 waterfalls in Watkins Glen State Park, Schuyler County is home to 44  waterfalls including Hector Falls, Shequaga Falls, Aunt Sarah’s Falls, Deckertown Falls, and Eagle Cliff Falls, among others.
